About the Instructor Mrs. Silva started her artistic formation at a young age by receiving classical art training from her mother who was a Graduate of the Ecole Des Beau Arts in Paris, France. By age 15 Mrs. Silva accomplished portraiture commissions for many patrons from her city of origin, Rome, Italy, including the Principe Francesco Sforza, Michele Carrelli Palombi, and others, including famed actress Lucia Bose'. After completing her B.A., and M.F.A. academic training, Mrs. Silva was accepted at the New York Studio School in, New York, for Drawing, and explored further her passion for the visual realms of "LINE DRAWING and GESTURE DRAWING". Which became her signature course at any age level and academic one. In 1998 Mrs, Silva moved to Santa Cruz, California, and immediately became involved in the thriving arts community, by teaching in many public and private schools. And served the Santa Cruz Adult Center for several seminars and workshops. Mrs. Silva also, became one of the principal pupils to complete the City for the Arts grant commissioned to restore and design an Art Village called the Tannery Arts Center, where she earned a grant to have her own Art and Cultural Art Center - THE ELEMENTAL ART STUDIO, offering cultural based seminars and art related shows, supporting local artists. Mrs. Silva's specialty is her teaching methods, enabling everyone to feel at ease, while exploring the Basic principles of drawing and many other related topics within the History through the arts method: the art of seeing - hence how to draw, or paint, etc. Mrs. Silva was awarded the E. Keller International Student fellowship during her international Bachelor's residency at Bennington College in Vermont. She received the 0-1 Visa for internationally gifted artists in 1999 and received a grant from the Tannery Arts Center in Santa Cruz, California. (2012-2016). She is also a Spectra Art Teacher since 2012.
