Description

Better identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness, thus improving outcomes for individuals experiencing these illnesses. FREE training for up to 30 individuals. Lunch and snacks will be provided. All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance for completing this 8-hour course and their own mental health first aid manual. Purpose: This training was developed due to the fact that mental health diagnoses are shockingly common in the United States. More than one in five American adults will have a mental health problem each year. The National Council on Community Behavioral Healthcare has begun implementing Mental Health First Aid to arm the public with skills to help individuals who are developing mental health problems or experiencing a mental health crisis. Objectives: The clinical and qualitative evidence behind the program demonstrates that it helps the public better identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness, thus improving outcomes for individuals experiencing these illnesses.
