Description

Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE) is having its monthly Food Pantry distribution and we need help from volunteers like you! AAFE is a 5013C non-profit organization based in New York City. Founded in 1974 in Manhattan’s Chinatown to advocate for equal rights, AAFE has transformed in the last 5 decades to be one of the leading housing, social services, and community development organizations. Our community services programs operate out of neighborhood storefronts in Manhattan’s Chinatown, Lower East Side, Jackson Heights and Flushing, Queens. We provide social services to over 20,000 community members annually. Most of our clients are immigrants, both documented and undocumented ages ranging from youth to elderly. In addition, the onset of xenophobia and anti-Asian hate during the Pandemic has contributed to yet another layer of trauma within our community. To help meet the need, AAFE has pivoted aggressively to provide mutual aid. Through monthly giveaways, coat drives, food pantry, and free optical pop-up shops we have been able to supplement basic needs such as food, shoes, clothing, linens, toiletries, school supplies, glasses, and houseware. This food pantry is just one example and serves 220 people a month. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact [email protected]. We love group volunteers too! Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of Asian Americans and all of those in need.  Founded in 1974 to advocate for equal rights, AAFE has transformed in the past four decades to become one of New York’s preeminent housing, social service and community development organizations.
