Join us in person for the unveiling of the final mural design for 4611 Freeport Blvd! This is an opportunity to check out the FINAL DESIGN for the mural which will be going up on 4611 Freeport blvd. Lead artist, Jaya King, will describe the process behind the final design how she tied together elements inspired by community member collaboration and engagement. Jaya will also describe the next steps moving forward and how the mural will be created. This is a very exciting in-person phase in the mural project and a great opportunity to see the creative process in progress! September 21 • Wednesday • 6 PM - 7PM • In-PersonBe sure to follow the artists on Instagram for more updates on the mural project: Lead Artist: Jaya King @artchickjaya & @blackandwhite.jaya Assistant Artists: Nicole Kieth @rose.would_ Uli Smith @paintbyuli Amy Xin Zhang @amy_xin_zhang The Sacramento Office of Arts + Culture, in partnership with your fellow community members, has commissioned local artists to create a community-based mural for the exterior wall of the business center at 4611 Freeport Blvd. A community mural project allows an artist to collaborate with a community to achieve a result neither the artist nor the community could have achieved on their own. “This pilot program came directly out of discussions with the community when creating the City’s Creative Edge plan and Cultural Equity plan around infusing arts and culture into our neighborhoods and city council districts in Sacramento,” said Donald Gensler, the City’s public art project manager. “This is an exciting opportunity to bring community and artist collaborations to each district.” To learn more about each location and the artists, click here (PDF).
