"Ditch Your Pitch" presented by Jan Risher, president and CEO of Shift Key "Ditch Your Pitch"Presented by Jan Risher, President and CEO of Shift KeyJoin us as we hear from Jan Risher, Mississippi native and former teacher and journalist, now the president and CEO of Shift Key, a communications and public relations firm based in Louisiana. Jan's presentation, entitled "Ditch Your Pitch," will teach us how to find story angles that reporters are more likely to cover so we can get the most media coverage for our events and announcements. About Our Presenter This girl can write about anything — and knows how to work with reporters to glean the stories that move people. Jan Risher has organized public relations platforms for companies including USA Today, Calvin Klein and International Special Olympics. She’s also worked the other side of the coin as a reporter and editor, winning numerous state/national awards and an international journalism fellowship. Originally an English teacher, she earned her bachelor’s from Mississippi State University in 1985. Jan is a skateboarding champion and hosted a weekly cooking radio show. PRAM Northeast is based in Tupelo, Mississippi, and is one of 10 chapters that make up the Public Relations Association of Mississippi (PRAM). PRAM is a state-wide organization, and the Northeast Chapter is home to members from all over Northeast Mississippi who work in Public Relations (PR), Marketing, Communication and Media. The organization provides members the opportunity to network among peers for the purpose of professional development, continuing education, accreditation, achievement recognition, and to hone skills required for success in the field.  As a member of PRAM Northeast, practitioners are also eligible to submit their work for recognition and peer review in the annual PRism Awards hosted by the Public Relations Association of Mississippi and to the Lantern Awards hosted by the Southern Public Relations Federation. Members are also eligible to pursue their Accrediation in Public Relations (APR), a nationally recognized graduate program designed to demonstrate competency in the knowledge, skills and abilities required to practice public relations effectively.
