BROOKFIELD, WI — Some Brookfield residents will have a different polling place in upcoming elections, as Common Council plans to update the map of city wards and districts as required by law. City ward boundaries have been readjusted based on 2020 Census data. Wisconsin law states "all aldermanic districts shall be as compact in area as possible and contain, as nearly as practicable by combining contiguous whole wards, an equal number of inhabitants according to the most recent decennial federal census of population." The Brookfield Common Council will see the redistricting ordinance for the first time at the Tuesday, October 5 meeting. They are expected to vote on the changes Tuesday, October 19. Map of current wards and districts Map of proposed wards and districts The changes would be in effect immediately following a vote to approve.
