BOSTON — Boston police are looking into the events leading up to a child getting grazed by a bullet Thursday near Codman Square Thursday afternoon; on Friday, police identified the shooter as her own father. Jesse Fuller was identified Friday as the shooter and the girl's father. He is now facing multiple gun charges and is being held while waiting for a dangerousness hearing next week. Officers responded to the scene on Talbott Street after 4 p.m. when they say they found a 7-year-old girl who had been grazed by a bullet while walking on the sidewalk. Massachusetts State Police say the child had non-life-threatening injuries and was not taken to the hospital. Surveillance footage shows people frantically running out of the way after the shot was fired, police say. "This happened in the middle of the day on a school day, and a 7-year-old child is now a traumatized victim of gun violence," said Suffolk County District Attorney Rachael Rollins in a statement. "This is obviously a very tragic incident," acting Boston mayor Kim Janey said Thursday. "Fortunately, the 7-year-old only has a graze." In court Friday, the attorney for Fuller says the family has a very different story. Boston 25 reported the attorney saying the gun was accidentally discharged and did not hit the child. They say the small laceration on the child may have been caused by something else and she is completely okay. No additional information was made immediately available. Jesse Fuller is charged with multiple charges including assault and battery with a deadly weapon involving an incident where a 7 year-old was grazed by a bullet.
