4 Baltimore Museums Open For Free On Museum Day 2021

BALTIMORE, MD — Several Baltimore museums that are not normally free are allowing guests to enter without paying admission on Saturday. That's because Saturday is Smithsonian Magazine's 17th annual Museum Day. The event Sept. 18 will be celebrated in select museums in Maryland and other states across the country. The purpose of Museum Day is to promote equal access to the wide array of museums in the United States, especially among children and underrepresented communities, according to a news release. This year's theme —"Experience America" — celebrates the "return to and resurgence of our country's diverse cultural experiences" following pandemic-related closures, according to a news release. The following museums in Baltimore are participating in this year's Museum Day: B&O Railroad Museum at 901 W. Pratt St, Baltimore, MD 21223. Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Get a ticket.Sankofa Children's Museum of African Cultures at 4330 Pimlico Rd, Baltimore, MD 21215. Open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Get a ticket.Maryland Center for History and Culture at 10 Park Ave, Baltimore, MD 21201. Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Get a ticket.Baltimore Museum of Industry at 1415 Key Hwy, Baltimore, MD 21230. Open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Get a ticket. Museum-goers can head to the Museum Day website to download their ticket. Each ticket grants the ticket holder and one guest free, timed access to any participating museum.
