AUSTIN, TX — A woman was taken to a local hospital after she suffered injuries in an overnight kitchen fire at a south Austin apartment early Friday morning.
Austin fire officials say the 911 came in before midnight when neighbors at the Lantana Ridge Apartments, 6636 West William Cannon Drive, called reporting flames coming from the resident's kitchen window and smoke alarms going off.
When firefighters arrived, the sprinkler system had the fire under control; however, there was a heavy presence of smoke in the apartment unit.

When fire crews entered the unit, they found a woman unconscious and carried her out to safety. Austin-Travis County performed CPR and were able to revive the woman and take her to a local hospital for her injuries, authorities said.
Austin Fire Division Chief Thayer Smith said investigators believe the fire was caused by unattended cooking.
