ANZA, CA — A Riverside County Sheriff's Department investigation that led to search warrants being served Thursday at six locations in Anza netted approximately 4 tons of marijuana, according to investigators. "During the search, approximately 1,720 marijuana plants were eradicated, and an additional 800 pounds of processed marijuana were seized, for a total combined weight of approximately 4 tons," the sheriff's department reported. The warrants were served around 7 a.m., according to the sheriff's department. Two Fresno men were arrested and cited. They were identified by the sheriff's department as Anthony Bounkhong and Andrew Bounkhong. Jail records were unavailable. Multiple agencies were involved in the investigation including the sheriff's department, Riverside County Code Enforcement, California National Guard, Bureau of Land Management, the California Department of Justice, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Anza is approximately 33 miles east of Temecula.
