By John Gibson, WNIN Sept. 17, 2021 COVID-19 related deaths continue to rise in the Evansville area. The Indiana Department of Health announced three new COVID deaths in Vanderburgh County and one in Gibson County on the Wednesday dashboard. 144 new infections were added Vanderburgh, while the county's seven-day positivity rate among individuals fell a bit, to about 25 percent. New full vaccinations outnumbered new infections by only ten. The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county region of southwest Indiana fell by 15, to 256. Across Indiana, 68 more COVID-related deaths were recorded along with more than 4,700 new infections. WNIN is the NPR/PBS affiliate in Evansville, Indiana.
