Description
OK here goes. When I lived in New Jersey I had a group called the Maplewood Clam Chowder Society. We had two Uke's (One Banjo Uke and one tenor), drums, Tuba and clarinet and we played a mixture of standards, old timey music and some pop tunes. I would love to form the Asheville Clam Chowder Society, doing similar kinds of music and maybe throwing in a couple of originals.
This is what I envision:
Uke and Banjo Uke and vocals- I can do that.
Drums-A good friend of mine in Joisey created a real unique set using a bucket for a snare, a suitcase for a bass drum, a high hat and some cymbals, sounded great with Ukes- Any drummer wanna try something like this?, of course if no one's game we can try a small stripped down kit.
Keyboards- It would be great if the keyboard player used one of those portable pump organs they used for travelling church's, if not than maybe an accordian/harmonium??
Bass- Loved the Tuba handling bass, any Tuba players game?, if not perhaps a guittaron or possibly and upright or acoustic bass guitar-hoping for a Tuba!!!
Soloists- Clarinet, Violin, Trumpet. My preference would be for a clarinet and violin or both but hey whatever works.
Singers- Yes I sing but would love to have a female voice as well. Of course if any of the musicians above sing, fantastico.
It would definitely be different and a ton of fun. Have originals that would fit?, bring em.
Cmon, make my day, lets form The Asheville Clam Chowder Society!!!
