Description
ELMHURST, IL — Illinois State Police helped wrangle several stray calves that fell out of a semi-trailer eastbound on Interstate 290, ISP said in a social media post.
Police said the calves escaped at around 2 a.m. Friday when a hatch on the trailer came loose near North Avenue. Illinois Department of Transportation and ISP officers helped find the calves on either side of I-290 and return them to the trailer.
A few calves appeared to have minor injuries, officials said.
Lanes were closed intermittently to allow officers to walk back and forth with the calves, but were reopened by 3:30 a.m. so traffic could get moo-ving again.
