AURORA, IL — Authorities said "numerous roads" are shut down Friday morning due to a ruptured natural gas line in the area of Montgomery Road and Main Drive. Police evacuated the Alden Courts of Waterford, a retirement community near the gas regulator, which was struck by a vehicle on the 2100 block of Randy Drive at around 7:45 a.m. A spokeswoman from Nicor Gas said crews were on the scene by 8:19 a.m. and were able to shut off gas service. As of Friday afternoon, they were working with Aurora police to make repairs and reopen the roadway. "Ensuring the safety of the public and every family we serve is our No. 1 value," a spokesperson said in a written statement from Nicor. According to a social media post, police had to tow the striking vehicle from the scene so officials from Nicor Gas could shut off the gas line. This is a developing story, check back with Patch for updates
