CHP Investigates Contra Costa Freeway Shooting

CONCORD, CA — The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate a freeway shooting Sunday on state Highway 242 in Concord. Shortly before 7 a.m. Sunday, CHP officers responded to the shooting on southbound SR-242, just north of I-680. An unknown type of sedan stopped in front of a black Mercedes parked on the right shoulder, and an altercation took place which led to a person in the sedan shooting at three people — striking one person twice, the CHP's Golden Gate Division said. The CHP did not disclose the medical condition of the person who was struck by gunfire but said the shooter drove southbound on SR-242.
