Description

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — It's county fair season, and Douglas County is pulling its weight with September Saturdays, the free-of-charge annual bonanza held inside of and on the grounds of the Douglas County Courthouse. Saturday is the first day of the festival, which will last from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. A community movie will follow the festival at 8 p.m. The following event will be held Sep. 25. Each event will feature numerous food stands from local restaurants. The festival, which is free and features free parking, is funded by Douglas County and community sponsors. The festival also provides a free van shuttle from nearby parking areas. "Charging for any festival feature might preclude someone from coming, and this festival is for everyone," says the festival's website. The festival will give residents the opportunities to meet community organizations and leaders, like Douglas County Commission Chairman Dr. Romona Jackson Jones, Commissioners Henry Mitchell III and Tarenia Carthan, Douglas County Animal Services, Keep Douglas County Beautiful, and more. This year's festival is notable because it will also feature a free vaccination clinic. The first 100 residents to book either a Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson vaccine at Saturday's event, and the first 200 people to book an appointment at the Sep. 25, will receive a $100 gift card. Parking is available on the courthouse grounds and nearby at the Multimodal Transportation Center, the Woodie Fite Senior Center, and the Dorris Road parking lot.
