BIRMINGHAM, AL — Week 5 of the high school football season kicked off Thursday night with a couple of Birmingham area games, and continues Friday with a full slate of games kicking off at 7 p.m. Thursday night, Briarwood defeated Huffman 42-14 and Ramsay beat Cordova 33-20. Friday night's action includes Mountain Brook taking on Shades Valley, Clay-Chalkville hosting Minor, Parker playing Wenonah, Hoover squaring off against Oak Mountain and a great rivalry game between Pelham and Helena, among other.
