Indie, Punk, Alt-Power Pop Total Long Shot

Hello Ventura County, I'm am a "mature" guitarist (57) but not old in spirit or attitude. I would like to do some playing but I realize the groups I want the band to sound like are not everyday names. I have been playing for a long time, was in bands in Seattle, Mpls., and Los Angeles. I don't want to play anything close to the Grateful Dead or Journey. Here are the bands who sound like what I would like to play: The Replacements, X, Nada Surf, Heatmiser, Sparklehorse, Young Fresh Fellows, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Rolling Stones, Fountains of Wayne, Soul Asylum, Pretenders, Elvis Costello, Wilco, Son Volt, Distillers, Superchunk, Xtc, Matthew Sweet, Dinosaur Jr, Elliott Smith. I realize that we are in a smaller town so the probability of finding people who want to play this type of music (specifically) may be considerably reduced in size. I have some songs but think my strong point is writing parts for other people's songs. We can start by playing covers. I am also up for doing something acoustic, if the songs are good. I work full time and am doing some school so time is limited. Just throwing it out there. The pic is from Seattle days. Cc.
