Middle aged bulldog/beagle mix seeks older human companion

Is there an older person who would simply like some canine company for the next several years? Our son recently moved out but left behind his dog much to our surprise. With multiple dogs of our own already in our care, full-time jobs, and the arrival of our first grandbaby, it is now in his best interest to see if a compatible home can be found. Toby is an approximate 5 year old bulldog/beagle mix with a passion for snoozing and eating along with random yard investigations inside a fence. He is neutered, gets along well with other dogs and cats, and loves affection. He is not suitable around young children however due to his tendency to become grumpy when snoozing and not wanting disturbed. He has snapped when physically prodded to move off the couch but never bitten. The offer of a cookie or biscuit takes care of any potential grumpiness and he will immediately obey and sit then politely take the offered treat. He's lived here since early 2018 and slept in our son's bedroom.
