Description
Utans Unite to help Afghans feel welcomed, accepted, and loved as they arrive in Utah... Utah is anticipating a large number of refugees from Afghanistan. We want to help them feel welcomed, accepted, and loved as they arrive in Utah. The Society of Christ, Scientist SLC is collaborating with local Afghan immigrants, Catholic Community Services, the International Rescue Committee, Utah residents and numerous local businesses to add a personal touch to the simple yet often overlooked needs of these refugees. We interviewed several of our friends who are immigrants or refugees, and asked them questions about what they really needed and wanted when they first arrived in the US? The one consistent answer that they all shared was "Spices and Tea” So we all agreed to get them spices and to gather donations for personal care items. Join us in solidarity to welcome our Afghan community to Utah. October 1 is our first care kit making gathering, where we will be assembling these care kits. We anticipate a couple gatherings to support the needs of this community. Check out the list of donations needed by clicking here ***Update Catholic Community Services, and the International Rescue Committee storage is full, so The Shop workspace SLC has agreed to store donations until further notice. Donate via Venmo for spices, teas, tea sets, jars, and labels: www.venmo.com/u/Christ-Scientist-SLC (last 4 of phone number is 9552) 100% of all donations cash and any physical items are donated to either Catholic Community Services or the International Rescue Committee. All donors will receive a donation receipt for tax purposes. ©2021 | Society of Christ, Scientist | Salt Lake City | 350 East 400 South #298 | Society of Christ, Scientist is a Utah based non-profit established in 1953 | EIN 84-1428517 | under the umbrella of the The First Church of Christ, Scientist US 501(c)(3) public charity, Tax ID: # 04-2254742If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at +1 (801) 810-1905 or [email protected]
