In July 2020, Amanda became the Executive Director of A Beacon of Light Pregnancy Center in Maryville, IL. Amanda HuberE.D. - A Beacon of Light Pregnancy Center The terrorist attacks on 9/11 forever changed our world and our lives. With her wedding just days away, Amanda Huber knew her future plans were about to be turned upside down. For, she was marrying a soldier. Fast forward 20 bittersweet years to the present: their marriage has endured 4 year-long combat deployments, unaccompanied tours, countless moves and duty assignments, and the ravaging effects of PTSD. Yet, they and their children have been abundantly blessed every step of the way, “our crosses make us stronger and His blessings all the sweeter.” Amanda and her husband, LTC Steve Huber, US Army, are both graduates of Eastern Illinois University where they met in ROTC. “I wanted to fly helicopters…God had other ideas,” says Amanda. Instead, she found her passion in empowering fellow military wives and dependents to grow in resilience and faith. From participating in and leading various women’s groups at military chapels around the world, to instructing Army Family Team Building, and working with Spouses’ Groups to impact the surrounding communities, Amanda has a heart for the military, veterans, and their families. She has also been the one needing the love and support too, “when you’ve been there needing compassion, you gain a better understanding of how powerful an impact just one person can make.” The mother of 6 beautiful children, she knows well the pressures that accompany motherhood and the stigma of unplanned pregnancy—even within marriage. In July 2020, Amanda became the Executive Director of A Beacon of Light Pregnancy Center in Maryville, IL. Since joining them, she has helped them start their ultrasound program alongside their impactful Earn While You Learn program that helps moms and families at any stage of their pregnancy and parenting. Everyone has a story. Amanda believes that in embracing vulnerability and sharing our stories, we develop relationship and trust. And maybe even unlock a few hearts to Christ’s eternal love. Luncheons 4 Life brings together life-affirming organizations -- abortion pill reversal support, pregnancy care centers, crisis maternity homes, adoption & foster care placement, abstinence ministries, reproductive loss healing providers, sidewalk advocacy organizations, clergy of all faiths -- and caring individuals seeking their own roles in pro-life ministry to end the demand for abortion. It began seven years ago in Sarasota County, Florida and now hosts ten monthly luncheon events -- eight in Florida -- plus Atlanta, GA and St. Louis, MO. There is no cost for the luncheon -- it is 100% free to all registered attendees -- there is no request for donations, and it is not a platform for political agendas. The purpose of Luncheons 4 Life is to open communication channels among participants through the grass roots, person-to-person networking process over a great meal. While there is always a life-affirming guest speaker, the best part of the program is when we "pass the mic" to anyone of the Spirit inspired audience who wishes to share their pro-life story. Please note: Seating for Luncheons 4 Life events is limited and events are often "sold out". Reservations are required and can only be made through Eventbrite.
