Fall Planting and Cover Crops Saturday, October 2, 2 pm - 4 pm (Pacific Daylight Time) Instructor: Novella Carpenter and Friends of Alemany Farm This IN-PERSON WORKSHOP will be hosted at Alemany Farm. Masks required Fall in SF is an abundant time – autumn crops like lettuce, snap peas, and garlic are a great place to start, but it is also time to plant your cold/rainy season garden – kale, collards, broccoli – as well. In this workshop we will discuss how to gracefully pivot from summer to fall, including discussion of crop varieties that thrive in our climate, and ideal planting times. We will also discuss planting techniques, nutrient needs, basic irrigation requirements, and more. The session will also include an introduction to worm composting and Integrated Pest Management as a method to fend off common weeds, pests, and diseases of the garden.
