Join us for a hands-on alebrije painting workshop with in-house Mexican culture expert Dayel Guzman! Alebrijes are sculptures of fantastical creatures hand painted with complex patterns and bright colors, made from carved copal wood harvested from the dry tropical forest in Oaxaca. Let your inner artist free as you express your appreciation for Mexican culture! All participants in this workshop will receive their own pre-carved unpainted alebrije to paint. Cost includes a Mexican lunch, all painting materials and artist instruction. Luna Culture Lab’s mission is foster cultural diversity. Our workshops are a tool to continue building cultural bridges in our community. We aim to inspire people of all backgrounds to embrace their own cultural heritage and be excited to learn about the cultures and identities of others.
