Walk, ride or run a different trail every Sunday in October! The month of October is ideal for exercising outside ~ the temperatures are cool and the colors are spectacular. Walktober makes the most of this great season by inviting participants on a tour of autumn’s most vibrant landscapes and inspiring everyone to make movement a priority!! Dogs on leashes are welcome. Commemorative Walktober buttons, designed by artist Kevin Worley, for the first 200 participants at each location. Attend all five events and collect all five designs! Check-in: Circle Drive near Arrupe Hall (by 54th & Troost entrance) Guided Tours: 11 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. Symphony Concert: Noon (FREE outdoor KC Symphony Mobile Music Box concert) Current university students will walk you around the park-like beautiful Rockhurst University campus to show you new additions to our campus community and other features around the quad and perimeter. On this tour, you will see academic buildings and student spaces and learn more about the history of Rockhurst University! Tours depart from the check-in table (on the circle drive near Arrupe Hall) at 11 and 11:30 a.m. Space is limited and tours are first come, first served until capacity reached. Rockhurst University is adjacent to The Paseo. You can extend your tour by walking or riding along this beautiful and historic KC Parks boulevard. The department maintains 221 parks, 12,242 acres of parkland, 158 miles of trails and bikeways, 29 lakes, hundreds of athletic fields and tennis courts, 103 playgrounds, and five public golf courses. Miles of scenic boulevards and parkways crisscross the city, where 48 fountains and 122 monuments and sculptures surprise and delight. Ten community centers, along with eight museums, provide the setting for socially equitable and community-driven programming.
