TAMPA, FL — Instructors and students will provide oral health care for medically underserved residents through the Concorde Career Institute's new dental hygiene program in Tampa.
The institute hosted a grand opening for its new dental hygiene program at its Tampa campus, 4202 W. Spruce St., Sept. 10 with WWE superstar Titus O'Neil, aka Thaddeus Bullard, on hand to discuss the need for a dental clinic for economically challenged residents in the area.
Now taking applications for students, the accelerated dental hygiene program is intended to help address regional and statewide dental professional shortages.
According to a recent survey by the American Dental Association, more than one-third of owner dentists were looking to hire dental hygienists, and about 66 percent of them said recruiting was extremely challenging as shortages increased due to the pandemic.
Concorde offers open enrollment windows every 40 weeks, providing more opportunities for students to enroll in courses and enter an in-demand career as soon as possible.
The program features a dental lab and equipment, so students can get hands-on experience as they complete the program.
Enrollment is now open and classwork will begin in November for the 17-month program.
