BRAINTREE, MA — The deadline to return signed nomination papers has passed, and 29 candidates across various Braintree town boards will be on the Nov. 2 ballot. Highlighting the race, there will be three contested town council races and seven people competing for three open seats on the school committee. Town Council contested races are in districts 1, 2 and 3. Among those candidates are two former town councilors vying to get a seat again. Former Councilor Thomas Bowes will run District 3 against Elizabeth Maglio, while former Councilor John Mullaney will run against Joseph Reynolds and Carol-ann Ricardo in District 2. In District 1, Councilor Julia Flaherty faces Jodi Killeffer. With the school committee race, Cyril Chafe, Jennifer Dolan and George Kokoros all said they won't seek re-election. Seven candidates took out nomination papers to fill the seats. They include: former school committee member Lisa Fiske-Heger, Tuffy, Treacy Lewald, Stephanie Burrell, Caitlin Bradley, Linda Doucette and Thomas Thackeray. The school committee term is for four years, and town council seats are for two years.
