Press release from the Puyallup School District: 09/16/2021 Governor Inslee is deeply saddened by the death of Grant County Sheriff's Deputy Jon Melvin, 60, and directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff in his memory on Thursday, September 16, 2021. Deputy Melvin died in the line of duty on Friday, December 11, 2020. Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on Thursday, September 16, 2021.
