Press release from Shreve Memorial Library: September 16, 2021 Shreve Memorial Library welcomes adult patrons back to the library for indoor programs. Adults are invited to enjoy adult coloring classes, crafting sessions, game days, movie viewings, and exercise sessions. Registration is required for all Shreve Memorial Library programs and events. Participants must follow the CDC and state mask mandate, along with practicing social distancing. Adults are invited to come, relax in a cozy, spa-like atmosphere and do something they probably have not done since they were children – use crayons and color pencils to color. Participants will enjoy soft music to reduce stress, all while coloring various coloring sheets. All materials will be provided. The classes will take place at the David Raines and Mooretown Branch. The David Raines Branch, 2855 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, will host its program on Thursday, September 15 at 11:00 a.m., and the Mooretown Branch, 4360 Hollywood Avenue, will host classes at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 17 and Friday, September 24. Those who are interested in sewing, knitting, and crafting are encouraged to sign up for a craft program at the North Caddo, Broadmoor, Hamilton/South Caddo and West Shreveport Branches. "Sew & Craft for Fun" programs will take place on Mondays at 10:00 a.m. at the North Caddo Branch, located at 615 North Pine Street in Vivian, beginning Monday, September 20. Adults are invited to come and enjoy a new hobby and learn sewing tips all while having fun at the library. The classes will take place in the meeting room at the branch. The Broadmoor Branch will host "Twisted Stitchers" on Monday, September 20. Participants are encouraged to bring their works-in-progress and any questions they may have about crocheting and needle point. All yarn and needle crafts along with skill levels are welcome to participate. The program starts at 5:00 p.m. and runs until 7:00 p.m. in the meeting room at the branch, located at 1212 Captain Shreve Drive. On Tuesday, September 21, the Hamilton/South Caddo Branch will host "Crafternoon." Participants will decorate a glass jar into a scarecrow, just in time for the fall season. All supplies are provided. "Crafternoon" will take place in the small meeting room at the branch, located at 2111 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, starting at 2:00 p.m. Pinterest Clubs are gearing up as well. On Tuesday, September 28, West Shreveport Branch will host their Pinterest Club from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the meeting room at the branch at 4380 Pines Road.  Participants will be making Rosie wrapped headbands. Materials for the headbands are provided. Adults are encouraged to join the club. In addition to coloring and crafting, Shreve Memorial Library is offering adult gaming programs too. The Wallette Branch invites adults to do their favorite types of puzzles, such as jigsaw, Sudoku, crossword and word search, at the branch each Monday, starting September 20, at 10:00 a.m. Participants can also pick up an adult brain teaser to help keep the mind sharp.  The Wallette Branch is located at 363 Hearne Avenue. Adults are encouraged to come and try their luck at one hour of Bingo in the large meeting room at the Hamilton/South Caddo Branch. Join the fun on Saturday, September 18. Game time is from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Space is limited, register now. Several branches are offering movie screenings for adults in September. On Saturday, September 18, the Mooretown Branch will show the movie, Chaos Walking, at 12:00 noon, while the Wallette Branch will host a showing of Mr. Church, at 1:00 p.m.  On Tuesday, September 28, the Hollywood/Union Avenue Branch, 2105 Hollywood Avenue, will feature the movie, Fatale, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Movies will be shown in the meeting rooms at each branch. Adults are also encouraged to get moving with Senior Chair Exercise sessions. The Mooretown Branch will host 30-minute sessions on Wednesday, September 22 and Wednesday, September 29. Both sessions will start at 10:30 a.m. The Cedar Grove-Line Avenue Branch will host an hour-long workout session on Saturday, September 25 at 3:00 p.m. The Cedar Grove-Line Avenue Branch is located at 8303 Line Avenue. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable attire for all sessions. Registration, face masks and social distancing are required for all Shreve Memorial Library programs.
