Memorial Hospital in Jasper is among health care facilities postponing surgeries due to the COVID-19 surge.
Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center says it's postponing all elective and non-urgent surgical procedures that would require a patient to stay overnight for at least the next two weeks.
In a release, the hospital says it's taking the step due to limited staff and bed availability.
The hospital says procedures that if not performed could result in negative patient outcomes will happen on schedule.
Memorial Hospital says it will also proceed with cases in which same day discharge is expected. But the release says that policy may be re-evaluated if hospital circumstances change.
Memorial Hospital thanked the community for its cooperation and understanding.
