MANCHESTER, NH — As a part of Feeding America's effort to relieve hunger in the United States, three companies offered tons of food to the New Hampshire Food Bank on Thursday. Walmart, Bimbo Bakeries USA, and Tyson Foods donated 15,000 pounds, the equivalent of around 12,500 meals. Each organization had volunteers deliver the donations and they also toured the Manchester facility. The food, mostly bread and protein products, will be distributed around the state in the coming weeks. "We are so thankful to our corporate partners for this generous donation," Eileen Liponis, the executive director at the New Hampshire Food Bank, said. "The pandemic has been extra difficult for families, many of whom never thought they'd be in this situation. Donations like this help us keep up with the increased demand brought on by the pandemic and ensure that no one goes hungry." The food bank is a program of Catholic Charities New Hampshire and is the only statewide food bank. Last year, more than 17 million pounds of non-perishable food items, fresh produce, and meats to more than 400 nonprofit food agencies.
