JOLIET, IL — A 22-year-old man died of a gunshot wound late Wednesday night in the 1300 block of Waverly Place, on the city's west side, according to Joliet Fire Department officials.
An ambulance at Station 5 was sent to the house on Waverly around 11:45 p.m. to treat a shooting victim. At the house, the 21-year-old victim did not have a pulse and was not breathing, according to Fire Chief Greg Blaskey. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Joliet Police Department issued a news release on Thursday indicating that the shooting victim was handling a pistol when the gun discharged, striking him in the head, killing him.
