DANVILLE, CA — Danville will hold a virtual housing workshop Saturday to help the community learn more and participate in its efforts to update the city's housing element.
In its upcoming update for 2023-2031, Danville expects to accommodate a minimum of 2,241 new homes.
That was the number assigned to Danville by the Association of Bay Area Governments in its latest calculations of necessary growth accommodation. Danville has appealed the number, saying the number should've been calculated on prioritizing new housing near job centers, rather than high resource centers. The town presents its case to the association on Sept. 24.
Either way, the housing element will be updated.
"The community's participation is critical because -- while the town's ability to control the amount of growth has eroded -- state law does allow cities to decide where to grow," Danville said, in a statement.
The virtual workshop begins at 10 a.m. Saturday. The town asks community members to pre-register. To find out more about Danville's housing element update, go to www.DanvilleTownTalks.org, where previous housing workshops can also be viewed.
