TUCSON, AZ — Some of the most famous names in women's gymnastics are coming to Arizona in the Gold Over America Tour. The tour's opening night is Tuesday in Tucson. The tour features world famous elite athletes like Simone Biles, Jade Carrey and Jordan Chiles, all medal-winners at this year's Olympic Games in Tokyo. The tour is meant to be "a celebration of powerful female athletes who, together, are a united force proudly representing the sport of women's gymnastics and inspiring the next generation of athletes," according to the tour website. The tour is aimed at showcasing athletic excellence as well as each athlete's journey to success. "I love the sport of gymnastics and wanted to help create a show that celebrates the pure joy of performing," Biles said on the tour website. "I believe there is GOLD inside of us all and it's time to let that GOLD shine." Beyond athletes from this year's olympics, the tour also features athletes like Laurie Hernandez, gold medal winner in the 2016 Olympic Games, and Katelyn Ohashi, former competitor for UCLA whose floor routine went viral to the tune of 50 million views in 2019. The tour comes Sept. 21 to Tucson Arena and will stop Sept. 22 in Glendale at the Gila River Arena. The tour is set to continue visiting cities across the country through early November.
