Description
I'm looking to stand up a new project and need some brave folks to join.
I want to take some catchy 70s disco/groove/funk songs and re-engineer them for a hard rock/metal sound. Like if Slipknot did Blondie's Heart of Glass, Rob Zombie did Earth Wind and Fire's September, stuff like that.
This is a startup project, and I'm putting out feelers to see who may be interested to help build it out. Currently nameless, no bookings, no rehearsal space, no management, and no pay until/if we get paid for shows.
We gotta figure all that stuff out, starting with re-engineering the songs to make them hard, fast, and retain the spirit of the original but f'n heavy. And to do that, we need folks with hard rock chops but dig 70s music (but think more Abba and Stevie Wonder and less about Ted Nugent and The Rolling Stones). The end goal is primarily playing out once we get a set together, but totally open to recording too. In my mind, success would be if we can play Dive Bar one night and get a pit going, and play Fremont the next night and get people from Kentucky and Quebec dancing. Hard and furious, but still the catchiness/hookiness of the original.
We have an experienced lead guitarist and I can cover either bass or rhythm guitar (depending on our needs once we grind through some of the songs). We need, at least, vocals and drums at this point. Possibly a second guitar or bass later.
Please: have gear and transportation, some stage experience, not add a bunch of drama and stress to the project, and be able to meet/rehearse regularly and punctually. (I'm not going to say No Flakes, because most flakes don't know that they are, in fact, flakes)
Hit me up with questions. I won't answer my phone if you're not in my contacts, text or email are much better.
