Sensory Technician Job Description: Job title: Sensory Technician Duration: Sept - Jan Dress code: Mask Required while working. Must pass a background check. Pay Rate $25.00/hour • Hours would be mostly Tuesday-Thursday from 8:30-2:30 or 3:00 and occasionally 2-4 hours on a Monday and/or Friday • The schedule changes from week to week, but we would let them know a week ahead what the following week’s schedule would look like • Some weeks are really slow and some are pretty busy, right now we have a pretty full schedule but it could always change as we approach the holidays in November Sensory Technician Dress code: • We do require that pants are worn that would cover the whole leg without exposing ankles, no leggings or sport-type pants. Jeans are fine as long as they don’t have holes, stains, etc. that would make them look sloppy. • No tank tops are allowed and t-shirts with sports, sayings, etc. are not allowed. • Shoes must be slip-resistant and must cover toes and heels. Also, make sure they are comfortable since a lot of standing and walking around will be required. ** Sensory Technicians will be working with meat products. Must be able to work with raw and cooked meats ** candidate will be standing/walking during most of shift ** Helping in kitchen, serving samples to panelists, cleaning booths Tasks and Duties • Assist sensory team with various sensory projects including consumer guidance and difference panels using Cargill employees. • Have the ability to work with minimal supervision. Understand the scope of sensory projects and expectations. • Set up sensory booths including sample cups/plate labeling, start and finish the sensory tests using the Eye Question program. • Assist with serving samples during panels. • Assist with sanitizing booths during panels. • Clean up the panel room, kitchens, and clean dishes. • Maintain general cleaning of the Sensory Center. • Restock booths and conference rooms and take weekly inventory of supplies to be ordered. • Help with routine food safety maintenance and calibrate thermometers. • Check temperatures of coolers and freezers daily. • Maintain food and chemical storage in accordance with food safety guidelines. • Maintain storage areas with dishes and panel supplies. • Occasionally assist Innovation Center scientists and chefs with meetings involving Sensory Center Kitchen use. • Compliance with Cargill Food Safety, EH&S, and PPE policies. • Document and protect all information to protect and ensure any and all patentable advances in technology as required by company policy. • Ability to manage multiple tasks on a deadline basis. • Must be able to work effectively with a team as well as independently and possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. • Must be willing to handle raw and cooked meat products. Job Qualifications Required • Basic food ingredient and processing knowledge • Demonstrated problem-solving skills • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills • Takes initiative in technical problem solving • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint • Good communication skills, both written and oral • Ability to work in a lab environment and maintain good food manufacturing practice • Ability to stand for long periods of time in required PPE (face mask, lab coat, hair net, beard net (when applicable), gloves, and non-slip shoes that cover the toes and heel) • Ability to pass standard COVID screening questions and wear a mask and social distance while in the building • Ability to lift weights up to 50 lbs. and perform other necessary physical requirements of job. • Ability to drive on city streets to pick up samples from Innovation Center and supplies for sensory panels • Ability to work Preferred • Food handling or restaurant experience LaborMAX Staffin is an equal opportunity employer.
