Job Description: We are looking for a “hands on” full-time or part-time, long term ranch manager to maintain, manage and improve a family-owned ranch in San Juan Capistrano. Ideal candidate will be a seasoned manager with field experience and a strong ability to do hands-on work with mechanical equipment and building facilities, good communication skills, experience in natural resource management, and an interest in ranch systems. The person should be a self-starter that can work unsupervised and comfortable to do various repairs and maintain the equipment and facilities as part of their daily routine in addition to overseeing the work of other staff and vendors. The ranch owners are committed to conservation and improving the health of the ranch ecosystem for native wildlife species and their personal enjoyment. Duties of the Manager: The primary responsibilities are hands-on daily operations such as: • Act as a field manager overseeing day-to-day operations. Must be comfortable working outdoors. • Inspect and maintain equipment and facilities. Specific knowledge of ranch systems is not required but having technical or engineering experience/training in any related field is ideal. • Perform or coordinate and supervise repairs. • Inspect grounds regularly and supervise landscaping staff. • Administrative oversight of the land including supply management, ordering, and writing basic weekly reports of work completed. • Staff and vendor management including supervision of work schedules and inspecting quality of work. • Primary Ranch point of contact with the ownership and corporate office in Orange County. Able to communicate with professionalism. • Currently, we are exploring various agricultural and livestock projects and need a manager who has the experience, drive and ability to oversee a variety of activities at once. • Work with the ranch dogs as needed. Hours: This position is full-time or part-time. One weekend day/week is required. Compensation: Salary will be commensurate with experience and ability.
