The beach and dune habitat provides unique opportunities to read tracks. Course Description:This course is for both beginners and experienced trackers aiming to learn skills in wildlife tracking. You will learn sign identification and interpretation in a small class environment. Students will strengthen their own knowledge of, and connection to, the natural world. Learn to be respectful of nature through an exploration of animal habitats and ways of life.Step into a new world in nature where animals become our teachers.Through tracking, animals will walk students through their daily lives.What you’ll learn: Track and sign identification.The animals will show us the interactions they have with members of their own and other species.How animals use their habitat. What areas are important to animals in different seasons.About animal food preferences. Animal hunting strategies.How animals find water.How animals find shelter from the elements.About adaptations, cycles, connections, and interdependence in nature.Interpretation of animal behavior.Instructor: Bob MetcalfeBob brings 40 years of experience in tracking, wildlife observation, and habitat exploration. He is an avid photographer of wildlife and nature. Bob Metcalfe is a naturalist and environmental educator. He has had a lifelong interest in the natural world. He is a Registered Maine Guide and a member of the Maine Wilderness Guides Organization. He is also the Environmental Education Coordinator for the Saugus River Watershed Council.
