Description
Provide in the upkeep and management of the buildings and grounds for First Presbyterian Church. Seek to create a clean, safe and supportive environment for the many diverse activities of this church body and its people. • Maintaining the overall care of the facility and grounds, including the parking lots and leased buildings. • Support staff and members of the congregation for event logistical support. • Managing church equipment and storage areas. • Work with volunteers for kitchen duty, grounds clean up, etc. • Perform all other priorities and duties as assigned by the Campus Care Manager • Perform custodial duties that may include tasks such as: floor & window care, cleaning, vacuuming, removing rubbish and waste paper, setting up or removing furniture and equipment, sweep and shovel walks • Perform maintenance tasks such as painting, basic plumbing, and basic carpentry repairs. • Maintain grounds, including sprinkler system, the upkeep of the church landscape and parking lots. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities • Have mechanical aptitude, skill and knowledge in the safe use of a variety of custodian tools, chemicals, equipment and supplies. • Have knowledge of custodial cleaning methods, safe work habits and standards. • Ability to plan and prioritize assigned duties within a given work schedule. Be able to identify the implied tasks required to complete given responsibilities. Assume responsibility as delegated. • Work effectively and efficiently without supervision. • Develop and maintain effective work relationships with church staff, volunteers, congregants and contractors. • Follow oral and written instruction and communicate in writing or verbally. • Maintain a presentable appearance. • Be a responsible steward of church resources. • Identify areas of improvements and cost saving opportunities. • Have a phone or other type of communication device available while on shift. • Have physical ability to ascend / descend stairs, ladders, scaffolding, ramps and related. • Have physical ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, seize, hold, grasp, and turn equipment and tools. • Be in good physical condition with the ability to lift 50 lbs.
