Wayland Sets Fall Flu Clinic Dates

WAYLAND, MA — Wayland will hold three flu vaccine clinics this autumn to offer protection against another deadly virus. The town's clinics will happen on Sept. 29 for seniors, and then on Oct. 13 and Oct. 27 for the rest of the community. Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, flu was typically the most dangerous seasonal ailment during colder months. Before flu season last year, health experts warned of a potential "twindemic," with hospitals overwhelmed by both flu and COVID-19 patients. However, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) found that the 2020-21 flu season was "unusually low." The CDC said coronavirus safety measures likely kept flu rates well below normal.
