Swampscott Man Sentenced To 33 Months For Bilking Elderly Victim

SWAMPSCOTT, MA —The Swampscott financial advisor who pleaded guilty in April to stealing from his elderly victim's retirement savings was formally sentenced to 33 months in prison and to pay more than $310,000 in restitution on Tuesday. Felix Gorovodsky, 29, who pleaded guilty in April to defrauding the victim and her bank of more than $250,000, served as the financial advisor to the victim. In 2019, the victim terminated the relationship with Gorovodsy and revoked his power of attorney. But about nine months later, he accessed her account and stole more than $250,000, transferring the money into his own account. Court documents said he then used the money to pay his own personal expenses, including paying off more than $100.000 in federal student loans. He pleaded guilty to one count of bank fraud related to a "gift letter" he produced for the transfer than included the victim's forged signature.
