Swampscott Veterans Groups To Consolidate Efforts

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — The four Swampscott-Lynn veterans organizations are combining efforts for a Veterans Center project to help better create outreach to local veterans and make them aware of services available to them. The Lynn-Swampscott Disabled Veterans Chapter 64, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1260, American Legion and Marine Corps League will host a free kickoff event for their efforts on Sept. 25 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Veterans Center on Pine Street. "The past two years have been difficult for the veterans of Swampscott," Jeffrey Blonder, Commander of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter of Swampscott, said at Monday's special town meeting. "We have faced strong headwinds from the town but we remain resilient." Blonder said the collaborative project is in an effort to better serve the veterans of Swampscott with access to health care resources. The Veterans Community Service Day will feature food, a raffle, medical services from the Lynn Community Health Center mobile clinic, resources from the Anchor Food Pantry, a moble veterinary center, miniature therapy ponies and giveaways for those who attend.
