FRAMINGHAM, MA — It's going to be a beautiful weekend to take out the trash. The international litter pickup event World Cleanup Day is Saturday, and a local litter group is taking part. Keep Framingham Beautiful has a goal of filling 100 bags with litter during the Saturday event, according to founder Michael Croci. Keep Framingham Beautiful is looking to recruit about 50 volunteers to complete the task. An estimated 50 million people will participate in World Cleanup Day across the globe, according to the day's website. Keep Framingham Beautiful (previously called Clean Up Framingham ) was founded in spring 2020 after the city's annual Earth Day celebration was called off due to the pandemic. In 2021, the group hosted its own citywide cleanup event, netting 336 bags of trash. But Saturday really will be an ideal day for litter cleanup. The forecast calls for sun, temperatures in the 70s and just a 30 percent chance of rain.
