WAUKESHA, WI— Three people, including a baby, were injured Friday evening in downtown Waukesha after a car crashed into light poles near Arcadian Avenue and North East Avenue. The injuries were not life-threatening. The people — a man, a woman and a baby boy — were not identified. The man, who was believed to be the driver, was arrested later in the hospital. Police said they were recommending charges against the man that included operating a vehicle while intoxicated, child abuse, domestic abuse, battery and second-degree recklessly endangering safety, according to a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report. The incident unfolded Friday evening. A person in an apartment building on Arcadian Avenue and North East Avenue called police after hearing a loud crash, police said. Reports that the car was stolen or that a kidnapping was happening turned out to be false, police said. The car drive into a Dollar General parking lot, the police log said. The man ran from the car into the nearby Women's Center, the log said. Police found the man with a large cut on his head, along with a baby with a cut on his head, police said. They found the injured woman later, police said. All three were taken to the hospital.
