Emmy Goes To Silver Spring Film Group For 'Secrets Of The Whales'

SILVER SPRING, MD — A mini-series about the lives of whales, filmed over the course of three years and 24 locations, won the Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Documentary Or Nonfiction Series. That accolade is going to Red Rock Films, a production company based in Silver Spring that helped create the series. "As one of the biggest projects that Red Rock Films has taken on to date, it took a dedicated and passionate team to bring this series to life," the company said in an Instagram announcement. "From the divers and scientists to camera crew, editors and production coordinators, we want to thank all the tremendous talent that contributed to the special." Brian Armstrong, president of Red Rock Films, was at the awards ceremony to accept the award, along with other film members. The documentary is also a National Geographic project, and is currently being streamed on Disney Plus. It's narrated by actress Sigourney Weaver. Other projects Red Rock Films is working on include "Penguin Town," a film about a colony of African penguins, and programming for Discovery's Shark Week.
