Press release from the City of Boca Raton: September 14, 2021 The City of Boca Raton is "open for solar business!" In 2021 the City earned a Silver designation in the SolSmart program. SolSmart is a program funded by the US Department of Energy which recognizes Cities and communities that make going solar easier by reducing soft costs. Solar energy is a major tool for mitigating climate change and the solar industry is one of the fastest-growing job markets in Florida. The City has made it easier to go solar by reducing permit turnaround times, allowing solar energy systems city-wide, and training permitting and inspection staff on solar technology.
