Stamford Public Schools Sees 55 COVID-19 Cases In First 2 Weeks

STAMFORD, CT — According to the district's COVID-19 dashboard, Stamford Public Schools has amassed 55 COVID-19 cases throughout the first two weeks of school. School began in Stamford on Aug. 30, and there were just two days of school last week. From Sept. 3 to Sept. 10, there were 24 new cases. Dashboard data includes SPS staff and students only. Contact tracing occurs following each positive test result. Close contact is defined as an individual who was within three feet or closer, for 15 minutes or more. Fully vaccinated individuals do not have to quarantine as long as they remain asymptomatic. In keeping with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and other privacy protection laws, SPS will always maintain the confidentiality of students or staff members, and no data will be provided that could be linked to identifiable information. As of Sept. 10, 41 people — either students or staff — were in quarantine from school-related exposure only. Overall, there have been 64 people in quarantine since school began. SPS updates the COVID-19 dashboard every Friday.
