Description
Community Navigator We have learned that the key thing people who experience homelessness need is housing. It’s what they want, and it is what rental assistance through programs called Rapid Rehousing and Supportive Housing can help them get. For some people, housing alone is enough. What some people also need and really want, however, is help connecting to the resources they need to stay housed. Someone who will come alongside and help them navigate the challenges that have prevented them from staying housed in the past. They need a Community Navigator. We are seeking Community Navigators who are good listeners, because deep understanding, networks, and relationships are the keys that unlocks everything. We are seeking Community Navigators who are not so much “doing for” as “doing with” people. We are seeking Community Navigators who can help people build the capacity of to live their lives more and more independently by connecting with the resources they need. Navigation is definitely NOT a desk job. In fact, to do it well, you will need to be out in the community where people are living their lives. There’s some paperwork, and you need to be able to do it, but it’s not rocket science. If you join us, you will be part of a team at the New London Homeless Hospitality Center. You will have the support of specialized co-workers, access to training and support from supervisors. Our base pay begins at between $15.00-$18.00 per hour based on experience. A monthly bonus of up to $600 is also available based on performance. We have no formal job requirements beyond having a valid driver’s license and proof of vaccination. Your life experience, compassion, creativity in finding resource and willingness to work hard on behalf of other people are what matters most. We are also open to people interested in either part-time or full-time employment. Spanish speakers are especially encouraged to apply. If you want to know more, check out our website at NLHHC.org.
