Here are the top stories in Roanoke today: One woman is dead and another man is wounded from a shooting in the early morning hours of Wednesday. Shots were fired at around 12:15 a.m. at the Shell gas station in the 3900 block of Melrose Avenue NW. Police are treating this as a homicide investigation and haven't yet released the names of the victims. (WDBJ7)The Clean Valley Council is hosting their annual Fall Waterways Cleanup on Oct. 2. The event will be a part of the Virginia Waterways Cleanup sponsored by the Ocean Conservatory. Volunteers are encouraged to remove and report litter found in the streams, creeks, and rivers throughout Roanoke Valley.
