Bergen County Disaster Recovery Center Opens In Hackensack

HACKENSACK, NJ — A disaster recovery center has opened in the Bergen Community College Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack as residents continue to seek aid after Tropical Storm Ida. The center will host representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Small Business Administration, who can assist residents as they fill out applications for disaster relief. The disaster recovery center is located on the first floor of the learning center, at 355 Main St., Hackensack, NJ. It will be open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice. Parking is available on Berry Street. Bergen County residents and businesses sustaining losses as a result of the storm are eligible to apply for federal disaster relief after the county received a major disaster declaration from President Joe Biden last week. Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster. Bergen County residents and business owners can also apply for disaster relief directly by visiting www.DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired.
