Man Charged With Attempted 1st Degree Murder Found In Tinley Park

TINLEY PARK, IL — A 42-year-old Blue Island man was charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder and one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm following a shooting on Interstate 57 northbound near 147th Street Friday, according to Illinois State Police. Around 11:20 p.m. Friday, state police said a 42-year-old woman from Manhattan told a nearby officer her car had been shot at while driving on I-57. The woman was uninjured, but her car was struck by gunfire, and the shooter had fled the area, according to police. Around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, state police said agents were searching the 6000 block of 163rd Place in Tinley Park, where a suspect, now identified as Kevin M. Albrecht, was seen fleeing the area on foot. Multiple police agencies and the Illinois State Police SWAT team established a perimeter around the area, and around 3 p.m., officers found Albrecht northwest of 159th Street and Ridgeland Avenue in Tinley Park and took him into custody, according to police. On Sunday, police said the Cook County State's Attorney's Office approved the charges for one count of attempted murder and one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm against Albrecht. The court set Albrecht's bond at $250,000, 10 percent to apply, and he remains in custody at the Cook County Jail, according to police. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
